After Tub Reglazing Care Instructions
Congratulations on the decision to have your bathtub or bathroom fixtures reglazed. Reglazing is an excellent way to restore the look and feel of your tub without having to replace it. Not only did you save time and money, but your tub also looks brand new again.
One of the most important aspects of ensuring your tub or other bathroom fixtures last for many more years is properly caring for them. Newly reglazed tubs and fixtures are easy to clean and will retain their shine and luster if you dedicate some time to cleaning them.
Improper care and maintenance can lead to poor adhesion of the newly applied coating, bubbling of the paint, and even peeling. Not only will improper care ruin your newly reglazed fixtures, but it will also void your warranty as well.
Below, we will discuss some of the steps you can take to keep your bathroom fixtures sparkling for years to come. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are always here to provide care guidance and assistance.
Can I clean my bathtub with bleach?
We highly recommend that you do NOT use bleach or any bleach products in your newly reglazed bathtub or fixtures. Bleach and products containing bleach can cause the surface of your tub and fixtures to dull over time. At Shiny Tub Reglazing, we do use a product that is resistant to bleach, but this does not mean you should use a bleach product. However, our product will hold up if you choose to do so.
How do I clean a reglazed bathtub?
We highly recommend that you do NOT use a bathmat in your newly reglazed tub as it could damage the base of your tub. If you do choose to use a bathmat, we recommend that you only use a rubber mat that does not have any suction cups. If you are using a bathmat, it is equally important that you remove the mat after each use and dry the tub thoroughly.
You must not use a bathmat at all for the first week after your tub has been reglazed.
As an alternative to a bathmat, we do offer an anti-slip coating that can be applied to the base of your tub before the reglazing process.
Proper aftercare and cleaning products to use for your refinished bathtub and tiles?
At Shiny Tub Reglazing, we recommend using cleaning products such as Scrubbing Bubbles, Lysol, or 409 to clean your bathtub and sink. You should avoid using harsh or abrasive cleaners as they may damage or scratch the surface of your tub or sink. Always make sure to rinse and dry your bathroom fixture thoroughly.
How long until I can use my reglazed bathroom fixtures again?
You should allow any reglazed fixtures 24 hours to dry before you use them.
Is it okay to use a heavy-duty scrubbing sponge in my tub?
We do not recommend the use of a heavy-duty sponge with an abrasive side on it. We do recommend that you use a soft sponge or a soft cloth to clean your tub.
When do I clean my reglazed bathtub for the first time?
It is recommended that you wait to clean your reglazed bathtub until at least one week has passed. After that, we recommend that you clean your tub once a week to maintain its look.
